G
Pitch class G — a perfect-fifth interval from C; a balanced relation that returns through the cycle.
G is pitch class 7 — a perfect fifth above C (seven semitones), a natural letter-name, and Sol in common solfège. On the keyboard it is the white key between F♯/G♭ and G♯/A♭.
The perfect fifth is the strongest non-octave relation in this counting: G is the dominant step relative to C as tonic in a C-major frame, and the same pitch class remains G in every octave.
In major-triad grammar G is the root of G major (G–B–D), the perfect fifth of C major (C–E–G), and the major third of E♭ major (E♭–G–B♭). Alone it stays a pitch class. Three notes of a recognized major chord may open a vessel offering.
