Aeneas and Dido

Myth & story

The Roman epic episode of the Trojan guest and the Carthaginian queen whose love ends in departure and pyre. Not Aeneas as a being alone, and not exile-and-return as a motif dump.

Roman religion

  • Aeneas and Dido appears in Roman religion.

Virgil’s Aeneid Books 1–4 seat the Aeneas–Dido love, cave union, and abandonment as a named myth episode. The published aeneas-and-dido concept is that Carthage arc, not wedding rite alone and not a missing Dido being invent.
