Ama-no-Iwato

Myth & story

The Kojiki episode of Amaterasu’s withdrawal into the rock cave and the dance that draws her out. Not kojiki as the whole text alone, and not every solar eclipse omen.

Shinto

  • Ama-no-Iwato appears in Kojiki.

The Kojiki narrates Ama-no-Iwato: Amaterasu’s withdrawal into the heavenly rock-cave, the assembled kami’s rite, and the dance that draws her out. Named episode in that text, not kojiki as a bag alone and not every solar-eclipse omen.
