The barrier-state between death and resurrection in Islamic speech. Not Purgatory as Christian cleansing, and not Limbo.

Islam

  • Barzakh appears in Islam.

    The Qur’an names a barzakh — a barrier — behind the dead until the Day they are raised (23:100), and as a barrier between seas. Islamic intermediate-barrier speech in that revelation, not limbo/purgatory dumps and not jannah/jahannam as the end seats.
