The awakened mind of compassion and resolve for all beings in Mahāyāna speech. Not compassion as bare feeling, and not bodhi as awakening alone.

  • Bodhicitta appears in Buddhist traditions.

    Watson’s Lotus Sūtra repeatedly raises the resolve to seek the buddha-path for oneself and for beings — bodhicitta speech in that Mahāyāna sūtra, not compassion as the already-edged mood alone and not a vague kindness dump.
