Dragon slayer

Myth & story

The tale-role of the hero who kills the hoard-guarding dragon. Not european-dragon as a being type alone, and not every sword name.

Hellenic religion

  • Dragon slayer appears in Hellenic religion.

The Homeric Hymn to Apollo narrates Apollo’s killing of the Delphic dragon (Python) before the foundation of the oracle. A named dragon-slaying episode in that hymn, not Marduk’s Tiamat combat and not every later Saint George dump.
