Gigantomachy

Myth & story

The Hellenic war of the Olympians against the Giants. Not titanomachy as the Titan war, and not every temple pediment as this episode alone.

Hellenic religion

  • Gigantomachy appears in Hellenic religion.

Pausanias names Gigantomachy among temple sculptures and dedications—gods against giants in sanctuary art speech. A named Gigantomachy in that periegesis, not titanomachy Hesiod alone and not every battle dump.
