Huitzilopochtli

Beings

The named Aztec solar war and patron god of Tenochtitlan. Not sun as bare sky body, and not hummingbird as animal alone.

Nahua tradition

  • Huitzilopochtli appears in Nahua tradition.

Sahagún’s Florentine Codex Book 1 and feast books record Huitzilopochtli as Mexica patron war and solar god — named deity with temples, feasts, and priestly service. A colonial-era Nahua ethnographic attestation, not a pan-Mesoamerican essence and not an unfiltered pre-invasion voice.
