Worship or ultimate trust directed to an image or false god. Not shirk as Islamic association alone, and not fetishism as power-object relation alone.

    The Qur’an condemns worship of idols and carved gods beside the broader shirk speech. Islamic anti-idolatry speech in that revelation, not shirk as association alone and not polytheism as the textbook many-gods label already walked.
