Macaw
Macaw as an animal people have named and used. Bright voice, canopy color, long bond — one living kind, not a single symbol.
Maya tradition
Macaw appears in Maya tradition.
Tedlock’s Popol Vuh seats Seven Macaw among the proud birds the hero twins defeat before the rise of the true sun. A named macaw in that Kʼicheʼ council book, not a generic parrot dump and not Florentine bird-lists alone.

Nahua tradition
Macaw appears in Nahua tradition.
Sahagún’s Florentine Codex records alo and kin in Book 11 bird chapters — named macaw among large parrots. A colonial-era Nahua ethnographic attestation, not a pan-Mesoamerican essence and not an unfiltered pre-invasion voice.
