The named virtue of measured self-presentation and restraint of display. Not humility as lowliness of heart alone, and not meekness as soft strength.

Islam

  • Modesty appears in Islam.

    The Qur’an commands lowering the gaze and guarding modesty for believing men and women. Islamic modesty speech in that revelation, not hijab/niqab as named garment invents and not veil as the already-walked covering speech alone.
