Nikah

Rituals

The named Islamic marriage contract rite with offer, acceptance, and witnesses. Not walima as the wedding feast alone, and not wedding as a generic joining-word.

Also known as Nikāh · Islamic marriage

Islam

  • Nikah is used in Islam.

The Qur’an regulates nikāḥ — marriage — among permitted contracts, witnesses, and limits. Islamic marriage-rite speech in that revelation, not a romance mood dump and not a modern wedding-industry checklist.
