Shofar

Objects · Rituals · Traditions

A ram’s-horn trumpet of Jewish rite. Not cornucopia’s horn of plenty, and not a brass orchestra horn.

  • Shofar is used in Rite.

JE SHOFAR seats the ancient ritual horn prescribed for New Moon and solemn feasts and surviving especially as the New-Year blowing — shofar rite use, not a silver ḥaẓoẓerah trumpet dump.
