Tlalocan

Places

Tlaloc’s watery paradise of the drowned and struck in Nahua speech. Not Mictlan as the ordinary dead-road, and not Aaru.

Nahua tradition

  • Tlalocan appears in Nahua tradition.

Sahagún’s Florentine Codex records Tlalocan as Tlaloc’s watery paradise of the drowned and lightning-struck — named otherworld allotment beside ordinary dead-road speech. A colonial-era Nahua ethnographic attestation, not a pan-Mesoamerican essence and not an unfiltered pre-invasion voice.
