Wudu

Rituals

The named Islamic minor ablution of face, arms, head, and feet before prayer. Not ghusl as full-body washing, and not mikveh as Jewish immersion.

Also known as Wuḍūʾ · Ablution

Islam

  • Wudu is used in Islam.

The Qur’an (5:6) commands washing of face, arms, head-wipe, and feet before prayer — wuḍūʾ. Islamic ablution rite in that revelation, not purity as the generic clean-state already walked and not a spa hygiene slogan.
