Eleusis appears in Hellenic religion.
Herodotus seats Eleusis among Attic sacred geography, including the dust-cloud omen reported before Salamis. A named eleusis in that traveler’s speech, not eleusinian-mysteries as a later mystery-dump lemma and not Pausanias’s fuller sanctuary walk alone.

Eleusis is sacred to Demeter.
Pausanias seats Eleusis as Demeter’s Attic sanctuary seat—temple, precinct, and Mysteries approach named for the grain-mother. A place→goddess dedication in that periegesis, not Isis interpretatio and not every Demeter shrine elsewhere.
