Also known as Járngreipr

Norse tradition

  • Jarngreipr appears in Norse tradition.

Snorri’s Gylfaginning lists Járngreipr, the iron gloves, with Mjolnir and Megingjörð as Thor’s gear. Named gloves of that prose, not the hammer restated.

  • Jarngreipr is sacred to Thor.

Snorri’s Gylfaginning names Járngreipr as the iron gloves Thor needs to grip Mjöllnir. A named glove-pair dedicated to that god’s striking, not megingjord as the belt alone and not bare iron kind.
