Lizard
Lizard as an animal people have named and used. Survival, Adaptability, Regeneration — one living kind, not a single symbol.
Lizard is used in Medicine.
Pliny’s Natural History treats lizards among small reptiles entering Roman pharmacological speech. A named lizard in that encyclopedia, not chameleon as the color-change marvel and not salamander as the fire-lore animal.

Nahua tradition
Lizard appears in Nahua tradition.
Sahagún’s Florentine Codex records cuetzpalin in Book 11 animal chapters — named lizard and day-sign animal speech. A colonial-era Nahua ethnographic attestation, not a pan-Mesoamerican essence and not an unfiltered pre-invasion voice.
