  • Mastic is used in Medicine.

    Dioscorides’ De Materia Medica lists mastic (σχῖνος / μαστίχη) among astringent resins chewed and compounded for stomach and spit-blood drugs. A named mastic in that handbook, not damar as a later varnish resin and not frankincense as the neighboring incense drug already walked.
