The named world-tree of Norse cosmology. The ordinary tree and a generic “world tree” slogan are not this ash.

Norse tradition

  • Yggdrasil appears in Norse tradition.

Snorri’s Gylfaginning presents Yggdrasil as the ash that stands among the worlds, with roots toward the living and the dead. A named Norse cosmology-tree, not a generic world-axis imported from elsewhere.
