Compass + Root

Bearing is an emergent relationship within SHOE.BLUE: what becomes readable when Compass and Root meet.

A Root holds. It drinks, it trades with fungus, it refuses to let weather walk the plant away. A Compass does not hold. It agrees with a field the body cannot see, and points. One is grip. The other is heading.

Bearing is those two jobs recognized as one problem: staying and knowing where. Tree and Magnetism take the split. The pairing is orientation that is not abstract — a living down, a magnetic north, and the fact that a stand in the world still needs both.

The Work is a way to sit with a relationship once it has become readable.
