Delta

Places

A river’s mouth-fan of channels and deposited land. Not estuary as the tidal mixing reach alone, and not floodplain as the wider overflow flat.

Egyptian religion

  • Delta appears in Egyptian religion.

Herodotus’s Egyptian logos maps the Nile Delta as the fan of silt Egypt that the river built, arguing geography against Ionian theories. A named delta in that traveler’s speech, not nile-valley as the broader region already walked and not a modern map dump.
