Flyting

A ritualized exchange of insults in verse or praise-contest speech, especially Scots and Norse neighbors. Not curse alone, and not a modern roast dump.

Norse tradition

Flyting appears in Norse tradition.
Lokasenna and Hárbarðsljóð in the Poetic Edda stage ritualized insult-exchanges in verse. A named flyting craft in that corpus, not curse alone already walked and not a modern roast dump.
