A Moth is an insect that flies toward a brightness it did not make. A Lamp is kept light, small enough to be a mistake. The Moon is borrowed sunlight, large enough to be weather. A Star is a distant fusion that local night still uses as a mark. Shadow is what light refuses, the other half of any lamp or moon.

Vigil is night practiced as attention. It is not a reading of signs. Light takes the split. Insect is the particular body that cannot look away. Cycle is the moon’s job. Threshold is the hour. The map keeps these five. It does not add the bird that has already been asked to mean too much.
