Lichen + Succession

Pioneer is an emergent relationship within SHOE.BLUE: what becomes readable when Lichen and Succession meet.

Succession is replacement as a living clock: lichen, then herb, then tree. Lichen is that first term as a body — a fungus keeping a photosynthesizer, able to sit on rock before a herb can. Relay is forest × succession: the stand handing itself on. This pair is how the sequence begins.

Pioneer is the opening that is not yet woods. Fungus and Growth take the split; Evolution is the longer file. The pairing is how a sequence needs a first body, and how that body is not Forest.

The Work is a way to sit with a relationship once it has become readable.
