concept
Calendar
A scheme for naming days. Solar years, lunar months, and ritual festivals can share a culture without sharing one clock.
Calendar is used in Moon.
Many calendars name months by the moon. A lunar month is a clock, not a named moon-goddess.

Eclipse is used in Calendar.
An eclipse cuts a hole in the named day. Calendars that keep the covering remember it as a mark in time — a dark appointment the year must still account for.

Fate is used in Calendar.
Fate and the calendar both claim what comes next. One allots; the other names the day the allotment falls on — two instruments for living inside what is already leaning.

Mercury’s swift light has been hung on the week and the hour. The calendar borrows the wanderer’s pace without turning the planet into the hymn’s cattle-thief.
